I am pleased to announce that Kodály Australia has recently partnered with the South Australia Government Department for Education Music Education Strategy and the International Society for Music Education.

The Music Education Strategy (MES) aspires to increase access to valued and quality music education for children and young people in South Australia (SA). Kodály Australia has partnered with the MES to provide professional development to SA generalist primary school teachers on how to confidently incorporate effective music education pedagogies into their practice. National Council has entrusted Kodály SA to lead this exciting project, and I commend South Australia on their collaborative approach. Details regarding this significant initiative can be found on our website.

The International Society for Music Education (ISME) aims to build and maintain a global community that promotes music education for all peoples and contexts. Kodály Australia has entered into a partnership agreement with ISME’s Council of Professional Associations. I encourage all Kodály Australia members to become a member of ISME which supports access to music education in disadvantaged countries and the dissemination of leading music education research. While the 2020 World Conference unfortunately had to be cancelled, you can participate in many of the Pre-Conference Seminars online for free! Be sure to reserve the 17-22 July 2022 in your diary now for the 35th World Conference which will be held in Brisbane.

National Council anticipates these partnerships will provide a platform to showcase and advocate the perspectives of Kodály Australia members at a local and international level. These collaborations encapsulate our association’s commitment to uniting with other organisations to advance music education for all.

Best wishes
