Kodály Australia is deeply concerned regarding the current state of initial music teacher education in Australian universities. The last decade has seen a sharp decline in the provision of specialist music teacher education across the country, particularly for early childhood and primary school settings. As a result, graduate teachers are left unprepared to effectively deliver the music curriculum and offer performance music programs in schools.
The Australian Government is currently conducting the Quality Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Review. On behalf of members, Kodály Australia made a written submission to the review. You can view our response below:
