Sue Beech

Honorary Life Membership is Kodály Australia’s highest accolade and is given in recognition of an individual’s ongoing and highly significant contribution to the association and the Australian Kodály Movement.

The reasons for nomination are outlined below.

1. Longstanding commitment, loyalty and service as the administrator of Kodály Queensland (2011-2023) and Kodály Australia (2012-2023).
2. Advancing the work of National Council working closely with four presidents (Tess Laird, Joel Copeland, Dr Jason Goopy and Jason Boron) and past member of Council (and honorary life member) Ann Carroll.
3. Advancing the work of Kodaly Qld across committees led by five presidents (Daniel Crump, Kate Tyson, Ann Slade, Deb Brydon and Alisen McLeod).
4. Served with distinction as the ‘first point of contact’ for our branches, chapters, members and the broader community for all things National Council.
5. Served with distinction as the ‘first point of contact’ for all things Kodaly Qld.
6. Generosity of spirit and going ‘above and beyond’ in all aspects of her work.

As I reflect on Sue’s time with KMEIA, it is clear we received much more than an administrator. Sue is a treasured and valued part of our community who has consistently gone above and beyond. She has been the ‘first port of call’ for anything (and everything) about Kodály Australia and Kodaly Qld – I know our members have appreciated greatly all that she has given.

All of these points reflect a substantial contribution to the advancement of Kodaly-inspired music education.

Therefore, it is my great privilege to announce that that the motion to award honorary life membership to Sue Beech was passed unanimously by the National Council of Kodaly Australia.

Sue, we thank you for your generous service, support and commitment to our community. It is a great privilege to now award you Honorary Life Membership of Kodaly Australia.
