Mary Le Page

Mary Le Page’s contributions to the Kodály branch in South Australia have been both foundational and transformative. Her involvement from the early days of the branch in 1978, through her roles as mentor, secretary, committee member, and member secretary, reflects a deep commitment to advancing music education in the region.

Her award of Life Membership in 2000 was a well-deserved recognition of her 19 years of dedicated service. Mary’s impact extended beyond administrative duties; she played a crucial role in developing musicianship training, supporting teachers, and guiding students with her extensive expertise and generosity.

Her work with the Education Department Music Branch allowed her to bridge the gap between metropolitan and country schools, ensuring that quality music education reached a broader audience. Her skills as an accompanist and choral trainer were widely recognized and appreciated, helping to nurture the talents of many young musicians.

Even after her retirement, Mary’s influence continued to resonate through the lives she touched and the programs she helped to build. Her legacy in music education, marked by her dedication and skill, remains a significant part of the Kodály program’s history in South Australia.

Mary passed away in 2023.
