Jean Haese

When the South Australian Kodály Branch was established in 1978 under guidance of Dr Deanna Hoermann, Jean Haese served as the first very capable secretary.

Jean Haese’s journey through music education and her contributions to the Kodály community are truly inspiring. Her dedication and growth in the field of music education, particularly through her involvement with the South Australian Kodály Branch and her international experiences, highlight her commitment and passion for teaching and learning.

Beginning her teaching career in 1977 and immersing herself in Kodály pedagogy shortly thereafter, Jean not only supported the South Australian Kodály Branch as its secretary for over a decade but also played a vital role in expanding the reach of Kodály’s methods through workshops and continued professional development. Her transition from a classroom music specialist to a Music Adviser and then to a secondary school teacher showcases her versatility and long-term dedication to music education.

Her international experiences, particularly her involvement with the Okayama Prefectural Board of Education and Asahi Senior High School in Japan, reflect her ability to bridge cultural and educational practices, enriching her own teaching while contributing to the global music education community.

Jean Haese’s career is a testament to the impact that dedicated educators can have on both their local and international communities, fostering musical growth and collaboration across borders.
