This is a reminder that nominations for the 2024 Awards for Excellence in Australian Kodály-inspired Music Education close this Sunday, 31 March 2024.

I believe wholeheartedly that our members are the strength of our community. These awards provide a significant opportunity to recognise members who have demonstrated an outstanding contribution and impact benefitting Australian Kodály-inspired music education. I encourage you to consider nominating yourself or a colleague.

Recipients will be awarded for each of the following categories:

  • Research – for outstanding research output (including traditional and creative works) investigating Australian Kodály-inspired music education
  • Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ Perspectives – for an outstanding example of including Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ perspectives in Australian Kodaly-inspired music education
  • Early Career Teacher (within five years of completing initial teacher education) – for an outstanding example of early-career teaching practice informed by Australian Kodály-inspired music education
  • Mentoring – for an outstanding example of mentoring in Australian Kodály-inspired music education

Further information (including selection criteria and examples of previously successful nominations) is available on our national website (https://kodaly.org.au/awards/excellence/). Nominations will be reviewed by the National Council Scholarships and Awards Committee, with recipients announced in May and acknowledged during a presentation at the 2024 Kodály Australia Conference in Naarm/Melbourne from 23 to 26 September 2024.

Good luck to all nominees!

With best wishes
