NSW: Unpacking the Australian Curriculum in the Music classroom: Foundation – Year 6

Presenter: Mary-Jayne Smith is Head of Junior Music at Barker College, Waitara (Australia) and, in this role, oversees the development and implementation of a Kodály based music education program at the College.
Mary Jayne Smith is a highly experienced music educator having worked at all levels from early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary. She is currently Director of Junior School Music – Curriculum at Barker College where she is responsible for the writing and implementation of the K-6 music program.
Mary Jayne attended University of New England, graduating with a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Arts and Graduate Diploma of Education. Postgraduate study at University of NSW earned Mary Jayne a Masters Degree in Creative Arts Education. Other qualifications include the Australian Kodaly Certificate in Music Education and an Associate of Music Australia (AMusA) in Piano.
Mary Jayne has lectured for the NSW Kodaly teacher training courses, for the University of Newcastle, School of Humanities and from 2003 – 2005 she was Head of Early Childhood Music Programs at Central Coast Conservatorium of Music. Mary Jayne has been a writer for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Education Program Stages 1-4 since 2009.
Mary Jayne has lectured and presented for the Association of Independent Schools, the Department of Education and Training and other education institutions on the Kodaly methodology, its implementation and links to music syllabus documents.

- Full-time Student Member: $100 (evidence required on the day)
- Full-time students Non-member: $115 (evidence required on the day)
Cancellation Policy: If you need to withdraw from a workshop, please inform us via email or fax no later than 30 days prior to the day of the scheduled workshop.
For any cancellations that are made more than 30 days prior the workshop, you will be charged a non-refundable administrative fee of $25.00
Cancellation requests made between 7 and 30 days prior to the start of the workshop will be charged a minimum of 50% of the original workshop fee.
No refunds will be provided if participants cancel within 10 days of the workshop.
Workshop registration is not transferable to another individual.
KMEIA NSW Inc reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any workshop that does not meet the minimum number of participants. If KMEIA NSW Inc cancels a workshop, paid registrants will be given full refunds. Information about any rescheduled workshop will be posted on our website at www.kodaly.org.au
