Dear Members
I am pleased to provide members with an update on the recent activities of the Institute.
Kodály Australia Conference 2024
Congratulations, Kodály Victoria, for hosting an outstanding Kodály Australia Conference in Naarm/Melbourne last month. It was incredibly inspiring to come together as a national community to share ideas and practice, acknowledge our Excellence Award recipients, make music, and be in the company of friends and colleagues. Thank you, Renée Heron (Conference Convenor), Alex St Vincent Welch (Kodály Vic President), Emily Dittman (Kodály Vic Administrator) and all in Kodály Victoria for your incredible leadership and work.
We are eagerly anticipating the next Kodály Australia Conference in Adelaide, South Australia, from Monday, 28 September to Thursday, 1 October 2026. It promises to be another inspiring gathering of our national community.
International Kodály Symposium 2025
It is with excitement that I share that the 2025 International Kodály Symposium will be held in Kecskemét, Hungary, from 4-8 August 2025. The theme of the symposium ‘50 Years of Excellence, Core Principles in Changing Context’ celebrates 50 years of the International Kodály Society (IKS). Given Kecskemét is the birthplace of Zoltán Kodály, this Symposium will be an excellent opportunity to visit Hungary and be immersed in Kodály-inspired music education. Let’s aim for a strong Australian presence, so start planning now! You may also like to consider applying to present – the call for papers closes on 16 December 2024.
2025 Kodály Australia Annual General Meeting
The 2025 Kodály Australia Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held online on Monday, 24 February 2025, at 7 pm AEDT. Members will receive further information closer to the date. The minutes from the 2024 AGM can be downloaded by clicking here.
Branch and Chapter AGMs
Thank you to all National Council, branch and chapter committee members for your continued service. It is that time of year for branch and chapter AGMs, and I encourage all members to attend and support your local Kodály Australia branch or chapter community.
With best wishes
