The focus of this workshop will be developing part singing in young musicians. Maria and Jude will guide participants through carefully chosen repertoire and activities that are applicable to both choral and classroom settings. This workshop will no doubt also be relevant to Secondary teachers working with inexperienced singers. \nThe Secondary workshop will be presented by Rosalie Scott from Perth\, WA. She will present ideas for getting everyone on board with a musical\, singing culture in the secondary school. Inspire even your toughest students with a sequenced approach to introducing singing and movement. Explore all the tricks-of-the-trade to get your new classes music-making! In the second session\, Rosalie will explore how we as Kodály-inspired educators can support positive psychology in our classrooms\, particularly in an age where mental health and wellbeing are of vital importance. DESCRIPTION:Kodály NSW is excited to announce that Dr John Feierabend will be hosting our final Professional Development for the year! \n\n\n\n\nDr Feierabend is considered a world leading expert in music and movement development. He is passionate about developing all individuals to be tuneful\, beatful\, and artful. Through his teachings and research\, Dr Feierabend has developed two music methods – First Steps in Music for early childhood – early primary\, and Conversational Solfege – a music literacy program for primary and high school students.\n\n\n\nDue to the dynamic flux of Music education this year in NSW and the current constraints to singing\, we have decided a Movement workshop would be ideal to upskill us all for the future. In this workshop\, participants will learn about Dr Feierabend’s approach to movement\, including Movement Exploration\, Movement for Form and Expression (also known as Move Its) and Beat Motions with Classical Music. DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED: Due to the uncertainty surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)\, Kodály WA has made the decision to cancel the Perth Australian Kodály Certificate Course for 2020. \nWe know that many of you will feel disappointed not to be able to continue your Kodály-inspired professional development this year\, however the safety of our members and lecturing team is our highest priority. \nRefunds to those who have already registered are currently being initiated and processed. The first 5 modules will be covered in the Autumn and Winter Schools. DESCRIPTION:A Message from the President of Kodály WA \nDue to the uncertainty surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)\, Kodály WA has made the decision to cancel the Perth Australian Kodály Certificate Course for 2020. \nWe know that many of you will feel disappointed not to be able to continue your Kodály-inspired professional development this year\, however the safety of our members and lecturing team is our highest priority. \nRefunds to those who have already registered are currently being initiated and processed. I appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through a long list of registered participants. \nTo support our members in their continuing development\, our Management Committee are considering ways that professional learning and resources can be provided to  via online platforms and social media. Please keep an eye out for updates via email and on our Facebook Page. \nLooking ahead to the remainder of 2020\, our Spring into Kodály event in November will at this stage continue as planned and preparation for the 2021 AKC Course is also well underway. Save the dates now!\n\nHeld over two blocks delivered across the term 1 and term 2 school holidays\, a Primary and Secondary Level 1\, 2 and 3\, as well as an Early Childhood Level 1 teacher training course will be running in Perth 2020. \nSuccessful completion will allow participants to complete Level 2 and 3 in subsequent years to fulfill the requirements of the Australian Kodály Certificate. \nIn addition\, for the first time a Beyond the AKC Course will be offered for past graduates who hold an Early Childhood\, Primary or Secondary Certificate. This program will include study of musicianship\, conducting\, philosophy\, reflective-practice by outstanding internationally renown Kodály-inspired music pedagogues.
