DESCRIPTION:Session 1: 17 April\, 2024. 6:30-7:30pm AEST | Session 2: 1 May\, 2024. 6:30-7:30pm AEST \nIn this highly practical webinar series\, Highly Accomplished Teacher Deb Brydon will lead participants through a collaborative exploration of the Australian Curriculum v9 Music\, helping you to begin the process of updating and aligning your program in a manageable and authentic way. \nIn the first session (17 April 6:30-7:30pm) she will conduct an Introduction and help us with a quick comparison to identify notable differences. We will then dive in deeper with an orientation and exploration of Achievement Standards\, Content Descriptors and Examples of Knowledge and Skills. Deb will help us to understand how to map our current assessment tasks against v9 Achievement Standards. Before the second session participants are encouraged to map all of their current assessment tasks against v9 (templates provided). \nIn the second session (1 May 6:30-7:30pm) we will reflect on changes that are needed and begin the very important before phase of moderation. This will inform changes we need to make in order to align with v9 as well as sharing ideas with our colleagues. Deb will lead a discussion around the place of checklists and monitoring tasks and we will all work together to find strategies and solutions for hurdles we may encounter. \nREGISTER HERE

DESCRIPTION:Hook\, Line and Sinker: Engaging the Upper Primary Student with Amy Abbott \nDate:  12 March 2022\nStart time: 10.00am (AEST)\nEnd time: 11.30am (AEST) \nCatching and maintaining the attention of upper elementary students can be a challenging and daunting task. But if you “bait your hook” just right you’ll soon have them eating out of your hand! In this session\, we’ll focus on instructional strategies\, pedagogical materials\, and ways to build student rapport in order to gain and maintain the engagement rate of your upper elementary students.   Song material\, singing games\, reading activities\, pacing ideas\, lesson structure and delivery\, and building trust and relationships with your students are among many of the topics that will be addressed as ways to increase student participation\, ownership\, and joy in the music classroom. \nTo register CLICK HERE \n  \nAmy Abbott is in her 24th year of teaching elementary music. She received her undergraduate degree in music education from the University of Colorado at Boulder and obtained her masters in music education with a Kodály emphasis from Colorado State University. She has Kodály certifications from PSU and from CSU. She has presented sessions at the CMEA State Conference\, Oregon Arts Alliance State Conference\, multiple OAKE conferences and was the featured clinician for the 2021 Texas Music Educators Conference. She has presented all-day workshops for multiple OAKE chapters\, and the Amarillo School District. She is also the level 2 pedagogy\, folksong and analysis Kodály teacher at Colorado State University. \nAdditionally\, she has served on the ROCKE board for over 7 years as President\, Secretary and Member-at-Large. In addition to teaching general music at Red Hawk elementary in Erie she also teaches a 4/5 choir and musical theatre. In the spring of 2013 she was honored with a Jared Polis Foundation Teacher Award. When not teaching she loves spending time with her husband\, son and daughter\, cross-stitching\, working on her Teachers Pay Teachers store and blogging. \n  \n  \n

Complete the first step towards receiving your accredited Australian Kodály Certificate and gain the skills and knowledge to deliver a sequential\, developmental\, and aural-based music curriculum. \nThere will be:\n17 Monday evening zoom classes (2 hours each)\n2 in-person study weekends in Mackay \nThe study weekends will be 5/6 March and 20/21 August.\nClasses will be held during term 1/2/3.
